Science Scholarships
Waikato has more scholarships per student than any other university in New Zealand. There are scholarships and grants for many student groups, including secondary school leavers, Māori students and adult students, and in many subject areas.

DairyNZ Undergraduate Scholarships
Closing date: 07 Dec 2018
For students intending to enrol full-time in an undergraduate degree in a dairy related area at Lincoln, Massey or the University of Waikato in the year following application. The Scholarship will be paid towards tuition fees and will have a value of up to $6,325 for up to four years.

AECOM David A. Burns Award in Engineering Geology
Closing date: 01 Sep 2019
For students currently enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Science and Engineering and undertaking EARTH313-19A - Engineering Geology in A semester 2019. Students must also be intending to enrol part- or full-time in a masters degree in Earth Sciences in the year following application.
Anne Shannon Scholarship
Closing date: 15 Apr 2019
For students who are enrolled in their second year of full-time study in either a BSc or BSc(Tech) majoring in Ecology & Biodiversity or Molecular & Cellular Biology. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 60 points of papers coded BIOEBxxx or BIOMOxxx. The scholarship will have a value of $2,500 per year for two years.
AVOCO Tertiary Scholarship
Closing date: 19 Oct 2018
The AVOCO Teritary Scholarship is open to students entering their final year of study for a Bachelor degree (or similar) at a NZ University in 2019.
Brian Perry Charitable Trust Undergraduate Scholarship in Science & Engineering
Closing date: 15 Jul 2019
For students who are enrolled in the second year of full-time study towards an undergraduate degree, in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Waikato. The scholarship will have a value of up to $3,000.
DairyNZ Masters Scholarship
Closing date: 10 Aug 2018
For students who are enrolled in the final year or have completed a Bachelors degree in Science, agricultural science, agricultural business or economics and are eligible to enrol in a masters degree at a New Zealand University. Up to three scholarships of $30,000 will be available each year + tuition fees.

Dr. Murray Pearson & Lightwire Undergraduate Scholarship in Computer Science
Closing date: 31 Mar 2019
For students who are enrolled/intending to enrol in the second year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Waikato with a major in Computer Science, and who have gained at least an A- GPA (Grade Point Average) in their first year of study. The Scholarship will have a value of $3,000.
Hamilton Zoo - University of Waikato Science & Engineering Scholarship
Closing date: 15 Sep 2018
For students who are enrolled full-time and have completed the second year of the Bachelor of Science (Technology) degree. The scholarship will have a value of $14,000 and a one year placement with the Hamilton Zoo.
Kordia Women in Technology Scholarship
Closing date: 29 Nov 2019
For women who are intending to pursue a career in the field of information technology and will be enrolling in the final year of their undergraduate degree in the Division of Health, Engineering, Computing and Science in 2020. The Scholarship will have a value of $5,000.
SPE New Zealand Section Scholarship
Closing date: 15 Apr 2019
For students who are NZ Citizens and are enrolled in a BE(Hons) at a New Zealand University and who have, at the time of the award, completed or been exempted from the First Professional year of study. A key component is a summer placement in the oil and gas industry. The Scholarship will have a value of $3,000.
Torutek Software Engineering Scholarship

For students who are enrolled full-time in a BE(Hon) or BCMS who have an interest in software engineering.
University of Waikato HEBUST Scholarship
Closing date: 01 Dec 2019
For students transitioning from HEBEI University of Technology (China) to the University of Waikato to undertake full-time study towards a Bachelor of Science majoring in Materials Science. Applicants must have achieved at least a B Grade Point Average over the last 1.5 years of study at HEBEI University of Technology. The value of the award will be up to $15,000.
Whanganui River Enhancement Trust Scholarship
Closing date: 16 Nov 2018
For students who are enrolled full-time and are undertaking research towards a Masters thesis, Honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma. Candidates must be resident in New Zealand for the tenure of the scholarship and their research should relate to the Whanganui River Catchment.

For students who are enrolled in the thesis year of a MSc, MSc(Research), MPhil or PhD qualification in Earth Sciences. The value of the scholarship will vary.

Dr Stella Frances Memorial Scholarship
Closing date: 01 Feb 2019
For students who are enrolled or are intending to enrol in the final year of a masters degree at the University of Waikato and are undertaking research that applies to the conservation or environmental issues in the Waikato region. The scholarship will have a value of up to $5,000.
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Scholarship in Biophysics
Closing date: 15 Jul 2019
For students who are enrolled in full-time study towards an MSc or a PhD with a thesis topic in Biophysics or Cortical Modelling. The scholarship will have a value up to $5,000 for one year.
Golden Plover Wetland Research Award
Closing date: 29 Nov 2019
For students who are enrolled part- or full-time in a honours or masters degree at any New Zealand University and are conducting research in any aspect of ecology or management of wetlands. The scholarship will have a value of up to $2,000.
Hilary Jolly Memorial Scholarship
Closing date: 29 Apr 2018
For students who will be enrolled or enrolling full in a masters or doctorate at the University of Waikato in the field of freshwater ecology in New Zealand. The scholarship has a value of up to $6,000 at Master’s for one year and $15,000 per year at doctoral that will not exceed three years.
RHT Bates Postgraduate Scholarship
Closing date: 01 Sep 2018
At the time of application students must be engaged in postgraduate studies (honours, masters or doctorate). Students in their final year of undergraduate study are ineligible to apply. See application for more eligibility criteria.
Terry Healy Memorial Award
Closing date: 31 Oct 2019
For students who are enrolled or are intending to enrol, part- or full-time in a masters or doctoral degree in Earth Sciences, and are not already receiving other funding or substantial financial assistance under a research contract.
Tess Embling Memorial Scholarship
Closing date: 15 Mar 2019
For full and part-time students, who are enrolling or have enrolled in the first year of a Masters degree in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The scholarship will have a value of up to $1,500.
Whanganui River Enhancement Trust Scholarship

For students who are enrolled full-time and are undertaking research towards a Masters thesis, Honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma. Candidates must be resident in New Zealand for the tenure of the scholarship and their research should relate to the Whanganui River Catchment.
