Kei te rangahau mō te tangata

Research for the people

Our research is shaped by the pursuit of outstanding science that has relevance in the real world. Our researchers are genuinely world-class and tackling some of the biggest challenges facing us here in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions, Aotearoa, and the world.

Our research falls within five overarching themes that share a commitment to connecting knowledge systems to affect real and meaningful change. In real terms, this means bringing together the perspectives of western Science and mātauranga Māori to protect and preserve Aotearoa New Zealand.

Meet some of our postgraduate research students

We offer a vibrant and supportive environment for our postgraduate research students, attracting students from all over the world who want to work with our researchers.
