The University of Waikato's Faculty of Science & Engineering offer undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate certificates and diplomas in science and engineering.
In addition to our degrees, we also offer undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate certificates and diplomas in science and engineering. Please contact us to discuss whether one of our certificates or diplomas is right for you.
Certificate in Science / Diploma in Science
The University of Waikato's Certificate in Science and Diploma in Science are both great ways for students to try some science and/or engineering papers without having to commit to a bachelor degree. These qualifications may also be an exit qualification option for students who, for whatever reason, have not completed a bachelor degree but would still like to use their successfully completed papers to finish with a Waikato University qualification. There are conditions to this, so please contact the Faculty of Science & Engineering for further information and advice.
Graduate Certificate / Graduate Diploma
Waikato University's graduate certificates and diplomas are available in limited science subjects and are designed for students who have the equivalent of a New Zealand bachelor degree in a subject other than the sciences to change their focus and upskill in the sciences. Please contact the Faculy of Science & Engineering for more information on the available subjects, eligibility for entry and the logistics for graduate certificate/diploma enrolment.
We also offer a Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Teaching Technology) for students who are concurrently enrolling in either the Bachelor of Teaching or a Graduate Diploma in Teaching. For further information, please contact the School of Engineering, for the attention of the Associate Dean Engineering.
Postgraduate Certificate / Postgraduate Diploma
Our postgraduate certificates and diplomas are available in limited subjects and are a great way for Science & Engineering bachelor degree graduates, and for our staff, to "test the waters" for postgraduate level preparedness, without committing to masters degree enrolment.
The postgraduate certificate or diploma may also be used as an exit qualification for students who, for whatever reason, have not completed a masters degree but would still like to use their successfully completed papers to finish with a Waikato University qualification. There are conditions and implications to doing this, so please contact us for further information and advice.
