International Connections

The University of Waikato has an Exchange Agreement with the University of Bremen, Germany. This  agreement was achieved on the back of a major project between the two institutions in the Intercoast project. That project, which kicked off in early February 2010, will see 39 international PhD students and post-doctoral fellows research the Bay of Plenty coastline and aspects of the North Sea in the coming nine years.

We offer internationally-recognised degrees. Our Bachelor of Engineering degree is accredited by the institute of professional engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) under the International Washington Accord.

Waikato Biological Scientists are also heading up an international team, researching proteins which may pave the way for new treatments for TB.

The University recently took part in a multinational International Polar Year initiative in Antarctica designed to spark a new era in polar research.

Our Waikato Radiocarbon Dating Laboratory provides data to scientists around the world and was one of five worldwide used to establish international standards of analysis.
