Research Interests:
Tephrochronology (correlation of tephra deposits and their application to dating geological, ecological or archaeological deposits/events); pedology (origin, distribution and classification of soils, especially in volcanic terrains); and Quaternary science (palaeoenvironmental reconstruction for deposits aged c. 2.6 Ma to the present). The photo below shows a Holocene tephra and buried-soil sequence near Mt Tarawera, central North Island.
