If you are planning a study that involves human participants at the University of Waikato, you will need approval from a committee delegated from the University Human Research Ethics Committee.
In the Faculty of Science and Engineering we have such a delegated committee and you should apply for approval of your study via this committee. Currently, there are two FSEN committees and they will depend on the type of research conducted:
- Biomedical - chaired by Associate Professor Howell Round
- Social Science - chaired by Dr Karsten Zegwaard
In addition, you should read the Human Research Ethics Regulations 2008 prior to completing the application form.
All protocols involving teaching and research in which living animals are to be used must be submitted to the Animal Ethics Committee. Details regarding the application process can be found here.
