Café Scientifique - The Beauty of Physics and Music

Dr Simon Taylor is a prominent physicist and educator, he was awarded the Kudos prize in 2014 for outstanding educator. Now based at the University of Waikato, he has studied astrophysics, quantum mechanics, researched children’s perceptions of science, but never without pondering the magic and mystery of music. Dr Taylor has a deep fascination of both worlds of music and physics.

In this Café Scientifique seminar, he will craft the elements of physics of sound, celebrate flamenco culture, play a little on guitar and other instruments with the company of flamenco dancers. It will be an evening where the worlds of physics and music collide and a wonderful opportunity to discuss their beauty. Please join us on Monday 22 February 2016 from 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

Café Scientifique is a chance to explore the latest scientific thinking and research from national and international speakers. Entry is $5.00. Light refreshments are available from 6.30pm.
