Speakers wanted for Café Scientifique 2016

Café Scientifique is a monthly Tauranga-based seminar series where anyone can explore the latest scientific thinking and research from national and international speakers, in a relaxed setting. Speakers are now being sought for the 2016 Café Scientifique series, which is organised by Julia and Warren Banks from Saffron Consulting in Tauranga and supported by the University of Waikato.

This is a great opportunity to share research, science and technology with an audience full of enquiring minds away from a traditional academic setting. Events are well supported by the Bay of Plenty public with an average number of 120 people attending each seminar.

At previous events, research has covered kiwifruit industry biosecurity risks, electrical behaviour of the brain during sleep, and the search for new planets. Speakers come from a range of NZ and overseas universities, research institutes and industry.

From nanotechnology to nutrition, marine science to molecular biology and everything else in-between; if you’d like to be part of the 2016 seminar series please get in touch.

What’s involved: Speakers present their research/area of expertise for approximately 45 minutes. This is followed by a 10-15 minute Question & Answer session with the audience.

Where: Café Scientifique takes place at the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club, 90 Keith Allen Drive, Sulphur Point, Tauranga.

When: Café Scientifique is monthly Tauranga-based seminar series. 2016 dates are currently being confirmed. Seminars kick off at 7pm with light refreshments available from 6.30pm. The event typically wraps up around 8.30pm.
